The two new regions
East
The eastern site opened in the second week of the quarter and reached its planned volume within six weeks. Staffing came in slightly under budget, and most of the early issues were with the handheld scanners rather than the routes.
Two of the four delivery zones were redrawn in the first month, after the opening routes proved too long for a single shift.
South
The southern site took longer than planned to reach full volume, because the lease on the second loading bay was signed late. Order numbers have since passed the original forecast.

What we would change
Open each site with shorter routes and extend them once the team has settled, rather than the other way round. Sign the leases a month earlier than feels necessary.
Both sites are now reporting on the same schedule as the rest of the business, and from next quarter they will appear in the main table without a separate section.
